Vincent Bugliosi has written another book.  "Divinity of Doubt: The God Question"

Evidently, he's taking-on God now.
The book essentially revolves around Bug, proving God doesn't exist.
Bugliosi was a skilled lawyer in his day.
Love him, or hate him, he won 105 of 106 felony cases as a prosecutor, which included winning 21 out of 21 murder cases.

Unfortunately, it seems over the years, his mind has deteriorated in direct converse proportion to his ever-growing ego.
Evidently, Bugliosi believes he's a master on every subject now.

Even a championship Boxer, must know when to hang-up his gloves.  If he fights too long, and too old, he'll make a fool of himself.  It's time Bugliosi, the champ of yester-year, hangs-up his gloves.
A legal consultant great.  A theologian? ... not so much.

Contrary to seemingly everyone in these circles, I've always respected Bugliosi, in terms of his legal skills. In his prime, he was a smart man.
Heck... if I needed a lawyer 10+ years ago... I would have been more than satisfied to land Bugliosi.
I also really liked his thoughts on the OJ case.

It seems in recent years, he's lost a few marbles.
As I suggested on the thread...
Bugliosi really needs to retire.
Sometimes in life, you have to know when to quit.

He probably shouldn't be writing any more books on law... let alone other topics.

This has to be fueled by ego.
Can he possibly be in need of more money?

Well the Bug is now 77 years old. I agree Lynyrd, he needs to just take it easy and putter around in his garden growing tomatoes. Maybe sell a few on the side of the road. Chew the fat with potential customers, sign a few autographs...

Vincent wrote "Reclaiming History" in 2007, a book that spells out the fact that the Kennedy assassination was not a conspiracy, that LHO was the lone shooter.

I haven't read the book, but I believe that he "pretends" that Oswald and Ruby went to trial, and does a "what if" kinda thing.

Now onto this book.

I haven't read this book either. I'm sure I won't.

I'm really, really tired of people blaming God for everything.

REALLY!!

"Well if God was really there, and really nice, he wouldn't let/cause bad things to happen to people".

I won't expound on my religious beliefs, but I do believe in God and don't think that he "causes" bad things. Does no one see the evil in this world??

"The devil made me do it".

Why not blame the earthquake and tsunami in Japan on Buddha? Come on now Vincent, get with the program.

I guess there's no mention, as the Col says, that he stalked the milkman for screwing his wife. HA HA.

You'd think that since he's 77 years old, and getting pretty damn close to clocking out for the last time, that he would be thinking real damn hard about where his soul is going to end up, and not be playing "helter skelter" with his salvation.

I give this book......thumbs DOWN. LOL.

I was curious as to why someone would name a baby Vincent.

I found this:

>>>From the Roman name Vincentius, which was from Latin vincere "to conquer". This name was popular among early Christians, and it was borne by many saints. As an English name, Vincent has been in use since the Middle Ages, though it did not become common until the 19th century. Famous bearers include the French priest Saint Vincent de Paul (1581-1660) and the post-impressionist painter Vincent van Gogh (1853-1890).>>

Well howdy doody!!

Vincent Van Gogh. Starry, starry night.

Vincent Price.

OK bug, chew on this one:

>>This name was popular among early Christians, and it was borne by many saints.>>>

So sorry Vincent, but your name was popularized by people you don't like.

A misnomer at best. Let's go get those tomatoes growing!!

HA HA.

AHahahaha LMFAO!
Ya know, you've got a point.
He must really be a hard-core agnostic, to be pissing God off, in the 11th hour. LOLOL
I'm not so sure, writing a book against God, is the dice I'd wanna throw at his age... ya know, just in case! AHahahaha

Robert Plant always said: "There's still time to change the road you're on", but I think he had a much younger audience in mind. : )

I have my own belief system, as to why bad things happen in the world, and it doesn't conflict with my religious beliefs at all.
I don't care to expound on my personal beliefs beyond that.

As for Bug's book, I just don't see the point.
In fact, I've never understood this eternal need, for folks to prove, or disprove, other people's beliefs, in general.

I say, "whatever gets you through the night man". LOL

If some guy in Asia believes in Buddha, and another in the Middle East is Islamic... what do I care?
As long as his beliefs and actions, don't infringe on other folks, what difference does it make?
"If it makes you happy, then it can't be that bad".
A foolish pop lyric, but it's as true, as it is simple.

Isn't "Holy War" a contradiction in terms anyway?
The only time another person's beliefs (or lack thereof) concern me, is when they use those beliefs (or lack thereof), to justify hurting others in some way, shape or form.

Bug is wasting his time.
The folks who are already agnostic, or leaning that way, will embrace the book.
The religious folks, will toss it in the nearest trash can.

I think Bug should have turned to Manson about this questions. Charlie could have learned Vincent a great deal about Divinity and doubt.

Maybe his belief system started crumbling in the 70's when he prosecuted Manson.

But on the other hand, maybe he's just running out of things to talk about. HA HA.

That's exactly right Lynyrd. People love reading things that they agree with.

Bug isn't going to turn people into agnostics, so people who don't agree with him just won't buy it anyway.

Probably some truth to that statement V717.
If anyone's had time to sit and ponder these eternal questions, it's Manson.
I've never read the book.
I've gotta wonder if Bug doesn't slide Manson in there somewhere.
What's strange about this whole scenario (LOL), is that a good number of those incarcerated for these murders have found religion, while Bug, denies God exists. LOL

"I have not read the book, but the reviews indicated that he beleives in a maker, just not the christian god. To Lynyrds point, why put down others beliefs ? Make yourself feel better ? Bugs can bite me on this one. On second thought that that might itch".

I agree.
He can bite me on this one too.
It seems he's attacking the "Christian God" most specifically.
And since I'm a Christian... I'm not thrilled about it.

At the end of the day however, Bug's opinion isn't going to sway me one iota.
From that perspective, I suppose it's all inconsequential.
I just don't see the necessity of this type of book, whether it be about Christian's, Muslim's, Buddhists, or any other group.
As you said Bob... Bug can bite me on this one. LOLOL

Hi Bobby.

That's what I don't get about agnostics. They just seem to make it harder on themselves.

Boy isn't that the truth. How ironic. Maybe the Bug needs to do a stretch. Maybe he can go to Tex's church. HA HA.

This is because Christians and Muslims have the tenets that God is omnipotent and omnipresent, so that when bad things inevitably happen, people feel like they're being picked on. If you accept that God is a natural force, then you'll not feel that way. If you agree that God can be personified to listen to you gripe about the results of the natural force, then you're not gonna feel as put-upon as those who think "Jehova allowed evil into the world". God just IS.

Thanks AC.
We're a perfect example, that folks with differing religious beliefs CAN co-exist! : )

The cover mentions Helter Skelter. Does Bug's Helter Skelter book cover mention The Divinity of Doubt? I doubt it. Heck, for that matter, does Bugliosi exist? Maybe that's a nom deplume?

Good point Poirot.
"Author of Helter Skelter" plastered across the front, is the first thing I noticed as well.
I've got a feeling, "Divinity of Doubt", won't sell many copies.
It seems Bugliosi being author of "Helter Skelter", is the only real "selling-point" of this book.
That's likely why "Author of Helter Skelter" indeed is, plastered conspicuosly across the front. LOL

Evidently, he is still alive, even though he's looking more like "Fire Marshall Bill" these days. LOLOL

Lynyrd I really don't see the point of Bug writing a book questioning the existance of God. Does Bug not understand what faith is all about? Either you have faith in God or you don't. Perhaps Bug thinks his book will become the Agnostic bible. Perhaps Bug thinks Agnostics will make him a diety just like Charlie.

I think Bug is jealous because despite his millions he never was a babe magnet like Manson was. The new Bug book reveals his envy of Charlie

I went to the library to check out Bug's 2000 page epic "JFK" but I forgot to bring a handtruck to haul it to my car with.
