Patricia Krenwinkel’s parole decision delayed after ‘battered woman’ claims

The panel from the Board of Parole Hearings postponed a decision on whether to recommend freeing Patricia Krenwinkel “because they felt information discussed at the hearing was cause for an investigation,” spokeswoman Vicky Waters said in an email. The hearing will be postponed about six months while they research to see if Krenwinkel meets the criteria for having battered women’s syndrome.

Patricia Krenwinkel was born in Los Angeles, California to an insurance salesman father and a homemaker mother.  She attended University High School and then Westchester High School, both in the Los Angeles area.  She was often bullied at school by other students, suffered from low self-esteem and was frequently teased for being overweight and for an excessive growth of body hair caused by an endocrine condition.

After her parents divorced, 17 year-old Krenwinkel remained in Los Angeles with her father until she graduated from Westchester High School.  For a time she taught Catechism, a type of Roman Catholic religious instruction, and considered becoming a nun.  She decided to attend the Jesuit college, Spring Hill College in Mobile, Alabama.  Within one semester, however, she dropped out and moved back to California.  Moving into her step-sister's apartment in Manhattan Beach, she found an office job as a processing clerk.

I had an "Anniversary Thought" the other day.

When we remember "family victims"... should we include Bernard Crowe?

OK... I know he was dealing in drugs... I know he was holding a girl hostage... I know he called the ranch... asked for "Charles"... and made threats/demands... AND, I know, he survived the shooting. 

Crowe was no saint, and clearly placed himself in danger, by his own hand.  One might even say, Manson shot Crowe in self defense...

BUT... consider this:

Manson blew the man's guts apart from point-blank range.  And, didn't Crowe leave the bullet in his back forever... for fear that removing it, would be worse healthwise?  Wasn't the bullet lodged, dangerously close to his spine?  And, didn't Crowe also die fairly young?

I submit, that Manson's blasting his chest apart, and lodging a bullet in the man's back forever (I'm pretty sure that was the outcome)... likely took years off Crowe's life.  So... in a sense... at some level... wasn't Crowe a victim (of the whole mixed-up family), as well? 
Any takers? LOL  It just strikes me, that Crowe never gets an ounce of sympathy. 

Any love for Bernie??  Just stuff I think about...
