Peter Writes...

I’m a big Ed Wood fan, and I know he was involved in a ton of low budget films, including some westerns.  I was wondering if Ed Wood ever was at Spahn during his career as a director. I think he directed films from the late 50s when he did Plan 9 From Outer Space and all that stuff, and into the mid to late 60s until he couldn’t get hired anymore and became more of a script writer.  I think it would be reasonable to think he was at Spahn at some point, although I doubt he ever crossed paths with the Family.  OTOH, Charlie knew A LOT of people, so it’s not inconceivable they met at some point.

Are you thinking that Ed Wood might have done a western at Spahn Ranch?

It would be interesting to know what movies or TV series had used Spahn Ranch as a backdrop.

Ed Wood filmed once at Iverson Ranch - Crossroads of Laredo (1959)

I'm not familiar with Ed Wood, I did look for a few minutes. I've never heard of him ever being at Spahn Ranch or filming there or being associated with anyone in the Manson family, but he may have. As Doug pointed out, Wood apparently filmed at Iverson Ranch. Iverson was right across the street from Spahn and was very busy. There apparently was an "upper", "middle" and "lower" Iverson, they sometimes might have been filming 3 different westerns there on the same day. Spahn, apparently got the "spillover" from Iverson.

I'm not that familiar with Ed Wood but I did read he wore womens underwear into combat when he was in the Marines. It would take a good bit of research to find out if any of his many movies were filmed at Spahn. Ed Wood

If he was making films like that into the 60s, it's no wonder he couldn't get hired ! "Plan 9 from outer space" is without doubt one of the worst films ever made. It's even worse than "Magical mystery tour" and that's saying something. Actually, it's worse than "Helter Skelter" and that really is saying something !
About 30 years ago, Channel 4 over here did a series of awful B movies under the banner of "The Killer Bs" and Plan 9 kicked off the series. They were deliberately advertised as being terrible B movies. I remember noticing some of the actors in 'Plan 9' turning up in a few of those killer Bs. My little brother and I watched about 4 or 5 of them then we just gave up, they were that bad. We thought, "we can't keep dedicating Friday nights to this crap, even if it is after midnight !"

Ed Wood. Sounds like a porno name. He wore women's underwear? That speaks volumes. LOL.

I have seen Plan 9 From Outer Space. If you can sit thru it, you are probably either (a) not very familiar with movies in general or (b) you just like eating popcorn and watching something mindless.

Ironically enough...he did get work directing porn loops and, Swedish Erotica films once he couldn't get backing for his own films - due to their dismal quality!

He did not star in any of them though

Beauders, on The Bold & the Beautiful, I think today Thomas is going to fall into a vat of the acid they used to clean the washing machines, so Hope will get custody of Douglas, since he signed the papers. LOL.

Katie, that ok if it's Thomas but I think it's going to be Douglas. A French actress has come forward claiming Polanski violently raped her in 1975 at his villa in Switzerland, when she was eighteen. It is time to put this rabid dog down.

No, Thomas fell into a vat of acid today. But he didn't burn or anything. He just looked like he was sleeping. LOL.

Polanski had a villa in Switzerland in 1975? That's a long time to not report a rape.

Beauders, I have to wonder if all of these accusations are true or just headline grabbers.

I'm not a Polanski fan. I don't know why Sharon would marry him. He was a short ugly guy. She was taller than him. And he was creepy.

Just sayin'.

I saw Sharon on the Beverly Hillbillies the other day. That guy that was managing her was holding her back. Probably seeing $ signs for her being in movies.

She could have made a big hit on TV. She could have been on the Beverly Hillbillies and she could have been on Petticoat Junction and made a lot of money.

She could have skipped marrying that creepy Polanski and lived happily ever after.

It was Thomas thank goodness. Polanski's victim says she has people who will say she told them at the time, for what it's worth.

Well I would think that if someone violently raped her, she would tell the police.

But I've never been in Holly-Weird, so I don't know what people do there. Seems to be a whole new set of rules. But I guess the rules change 44 years later.

Sorry Beauders, I just think this METOO movement is just trying to make every man look like a monster.

I'm not defending Polanski. I think he was a creepy little guy. I think I'm defending men. Because it's not fair to be accused of something that you didn't even do. And that seems to be the "Savoir-Faire" if this "new generation".

He does have a history though. The women won't get anything by coming forward so why would she? The press isn't even releasing her name.

katie8753 said...

Well if this woman was so brutally attacked, she should have said something immediately, in order to protect future women from being attacked. If this story is true, she didn't do anybody any favors by not saying anything. In fact, she encouraged the perp to keep on doing what he was doing.

And why say something now? It doesn't help any future victims because the guy is too old to do anything.

I'm sorry I don't see what good it does to say this now. These people all make me sick. They're all celebrities and celebrities can't survive without some kind of mention in the news.
