Coyote was the man credited with getting Cappy away from The Family. They were married in the 70's and had 4 children-2 boys, 2 girls. They did divorce, he remarried many years ago and remained in Trona.

I wrestled with posting this for a long time. A lot of this is common knowledge so I decided to go ahead and publish, but leave out last names and exact locations and the link to this obit.
As to how I know this man was the person to take Cappy away, a mutual friend told me--I'm just going to leave it at that.

The blog was supposed to survive without me... not improve without me... LOL!
It seems that things are better now, than ever! LOL
Good Job Kimchi!!
No Lynyrd, we can't do this without you!
That's a given...
There was a recent horror movie released called Lost Lake. It was filmed entirely in Trona. If you have never been there, this is a good look at the town.
Thanx for the comment about the movie "Lost Lake". I found it online, I have it starting to play in another tab right now. It looks like one dude is clubbing another dude with a shovel, I don't think it's going to be a romantic comedy.
Don't go too far Lynyrd, there's still a few buttons on that blogger page I'm not real sure what they do.
Thanx for the post, I'd never heard of "Trona Coyote". (maybe vaguely).
I found this picture online few years ago I figured it must be Cappys husband but wasnt sure until your post thanks! http://i43.tinypic.com/2d9y0eu.jpg
It certainly looks like the same guy.
I'll post the photo (on this thread), and we'll see what information others may add...
Great Pic!- He must have been a fine man
"He served his country in Southeast Asia as a civilian with Air America for seven years."
Hey Candy, thanks for the photo...I had seen it at Michael's and was going to ask to borrow it, but never got to it...
Sandy is in that photo too..
Thanks for that info about Trona Rusty...I'm going to order it, unless Sunset gives us a good run down on it!
I had no idea there was civilian serviceman - didn't know about Air America...and yes, I was around during that time...
Do you know if it was voluntary enlistment or that would be an option over being drafted?
I've read that Air America was used a lot by the CIA for nasty things over seas. It came up in my researching the John Lennon assassination. Mark David Chapman was associated with Air America when he worked for World Vision (another spook group). He "helped" Vietnamese refugees in a resettlement camp in Fort Chaffee Arkansas, after working for World Vision in Lebanon during their war. Anyone interested in the John Lennon assassination should research this connection---it points to Mark David Chapman not being another nut with grudge and a gun.
Sorry about your loss. There comes a time when everybody should just forgive everybody.
Doesn't make sense that people hold grudges way past term.
Free Leslie Van Houten.
yes Kimchi Sandy and Squeaky both in this pic-yes this could have been from Micheals stuff -found it long ago someplace online always wondered who this guy was:)
I know I come across as a grouchy old man sometimes, but I like meat.
Meat, for me, being information. I am a info junkie. I often find threads on the Manson blogs frustrating because there seems to be more unsaid than said. For instance, over on the 'other' site they have photos of a cute girl who is a blog reader and is a dead ringer for Ruth Ann. But there is no backstory, no info.
This thread is another one. This guy Coyote is worth a whole book based on his experiences with Air America, marrying a Manson girl, becoming a desert expert and so on. The periphery characters in the Manson story are often far more interesting than the main ones. Maybe Jeff Guinn should have focused on them instead of doing a rehash.
By the way, as an aside, we had a thread a bit back about who in the Family would have killed and who would have refused. I think Saint and Mr P were the most vocal. Anyways, does anyone out there believe that Star or Grey Wolf would go extreme at Charlie's request? I just can't shake the feeling that Manson has one last "fuck ya all" up his sleeve.
When John died in 1980 I bought every book out there, still have them, lol..but I guess I didn't retain that info about Chapman...
Strange you bring up World Vision..I lived in Monrovia and drove past that "compound" everyday... I never knew what it was until today with your comment...thank goodness for the internet! You'll have to enlighten us sometime!
Leary, what do you want to know?
Giselle is a little girl on Facebook...she (her profile picture)resembles Ruth Ann when she was young...I'm answering your question because I'm familiar with her on FB...this is "my knowledge" and I'm not speaking for or on behalf of EL people..
As for ex-Family members..
There's no secrets, but people do deserve privacy....a lot of them did not commit crimes...the ones that did are in jail or served their time...
And FYI - I went to a book signing by Guinn... a person in the audience asked Guinn if he knew who Coyote was... he said "they (the Family acquaintances)use so many aliases..I talked to a 'Grey Wolf' and exchanged emails with a 'Star'" ---
I'm not going to get in a big convo with you about what people might might or might not do for Charlie, but there are lots of recordings out there of his current mind-set...he's an old man..he talks and walks (barely) like an old man...he has no teeth...LOL..
It's just not there Leary...but that's JMO...
Leary I have been diagnosed by a shrink as an "information hoarder"
If one has to be a hoarder, I would choose information hoarding."
thanks Kimchi...of course you are right that folk deserve their privacy (I went through this when I was engaged to Oswald's daughter) UNLESS they willingly thrust themselves into the public eye. I have always felt that the Manson women abdicated their right to privacy by their actions during the trial and afterwards.
It is fascinating that you say "it's just not there" with regards to Charlie. I think you are right. But it just makes the story of this two-bit con screw-up becoming one of the most iconic Faces of Evil in the 20th century all the more amazing. Charlie had some serious game back then. I still recall interviews with Stephanie and Gypsy and Lynn and Sandy and others who gushed about not just their love for him but their worship of him.
Magnetism in evil form has always been a mind blower.
You don't have to listen to Jeff Guinn long to figure out he has limited knowledge of TLB when compared to most of the folks online who have been reading on the case for decades. He tends to write on completely different subjects every year or two and there is only so much you can learn in two years.
If Guinn doesn't know something he tends to fake an answer rather than admitting he doesn't know.
I knew Coyote..from1981-1986..he was a good guy..sad about his passing..thought he would live forever...
In regards to the movie Lost Lake, which I haven't seen, sounds like it may have some inspiration in reality. One of the few murders in Inyo County was a girl named Star (nice Trona girl) who had her brother killed and decapitated with a shovel, out in the desert on the Inyo side of Trona. She got caught.
