Katie says:  This just in!!  A new book about Sharon Tate will be released in January 2012.
It's called "Restless Souls: The Sharon Tate Family's Account of Stardom, Murder and a Crusade".  It is authored by Brie Tate (Patti Tate's daughter) and Alisa Statman (Patti's best friend).  It is based largely on a book that Paul Tate was working on (but was never published)... on Doris Tate's notes regarding her feelings, about what happened to Sharon... and, on Patti's notes, about what really happened.  This book is a long time in the making, and should be a good read. Stayed tuned for more details!!  http://www.amazon.com/Restless-Souls-LP-Familys-Account/dp/0062107291

Inyo County Courthouse completed 1921 - Courtesy Eastern California Museum
After three previous courthouses were lost to earthquake and fire, Inyo's fourth and current courthouse was built to resist both.  The region's only example of monumental Neoclassical Revival public architecture, this courthouse was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1998 in recognition of its "integrity of feeling and association".  It was here in Independence, that 24 members of the Manson Family were jailed in 1969 for possession of stolen vehicles and property.  Within days of his preliminary hearing, Charles Manson was indicted in the Tate murders and transferred to Los Angeles.

Take it from me 8/9:
I always highlight, and copy my longer posts... then paste them onto a word document... BEFORE, I hit the "publish" button!
After you lose 12-20 longer comments... you'll learn your lesson.
It Sucks!!!
If nothing else... at least highlight, and copy!
That way... you can re-paste directly from your clip-board, if need be.

It's a little bit of a pain in the ass... but SURE BEATS the alternative!

After you lose a few long posts... you'll see EXACTLY what I mean!

I wanted to ask a quick question of the membership.

I notice that my "followers" box, at the top left of the blog, works on some computers... but, on others, it's just blank box.

My question:
Can everyone see that freakin' thing? LOLOL

If it's not working right... I should probably just shit-can it... or, at least move it down a bit in the side-bar.

There's probably no sense in leaving a meaningless black box, at the top of the page. LOL

Is it working for you people???

Sometimes I see "followrs"... other times I see nothing.

katie8753 said...

Lynyrd I see the box of followers.

First time I've seen anything in that box.

It looks like I've got some catchin' up to do.

HA HA.

I'm so tired I could leak.

Gonna watch One Hand in my Pocket (my theme song) once again, and go to bed.

Again!

Casey is guilty. No doubt about it.

Night.

i don't think the prosecution did a bad job.
they did the best they could with what they had unlike the o.j. trial where the prosecution utterly blew a slam dunk case somehow.
it makes me laugh out loud to see marcia clark on t.v. as a 'legal expert'in this case.
shes an expert in what not to do if you're a prosecutor.

l/s could'nt a lawyer could say that the fact that the tape in the anthony home was so rare doesnt rule out the father, mother or brother as the killer.

btw i see nothing in that box today
but every other time i can see the followers todays the 1st time its blank for me.

Hey Lurch!

Thanks for the sentiments. My fiance does not usually get rattled by much but there were tell-tale signs it was taking it's toll on him too.

The thing that takes the cake about it all was when he had the lookey lou's coming on up to view the fire. I was in my driveway, trying to load things into the car etc. A young couple that had a hummer parked on the street next to our house. He pulled out a blanket and they climbed up on the hood of their car- having a serious make-out session and watching the fire. Meanwhile, us and all of our neighbors are watering down the lawns, removing things from their houses, getting ready for an evacuation etc.

Katie,

I agree with you about pageants. I don't even think the ones without makeup are right for children.

I did pageants in my teens. There are a lot of people who find them discriminatory but I did not. You build up friendships with others and even the swimsuit competition builds confidence. If it is a scholarship pageant they go on to Miss America (not Miss USA which is more of a true beauty pageant)...scholarship pageants consist of evening gown, swimsuit and talent competition. You must represent a platform and have a private interview with the judges.

Even on that level, there are career pageant folks that just want to win- they are usually ruthless, not from your community and have a hard time giving it up.

Seems that Patsy wanted to live through her daughter. So sad....
one of the reasons I will never watch Toddlers and Tiaras...kids need to just be kids.....

There's an interview of Bugliosi, where he says the same thing.
It's great footage.
He basically outlines everything they did wrong! LOL
I'll look for it, when I have a chance.

As usual, you make a good point.
However, if you couple that evidence... with the rest of the evidence/factors/testimony... you are steered you away from the parents and brother.

That's the big problem with this case Matt.
There's not one single piece of evidence, which on it's own, leads you anywhere.
If you consider all the little pieces , I personally believe, it was convincing enough for a manslaughter charge.
But yeah... the tape alone... (or, any of the other factors)... are just pieces of a bigger puzzle.

The defense did the best they could, with sparse tools, to work with.

LOLOL
Me too!
My had been working, but now it's not.
It has something to do with either "cookies", or "security settings".
Go figure...

Hi Lynn.

I guess when girls are old enough to decide for themselves if they want to enter into a "beauty pageant" there's nothing wrong with it.

It's the little girls who can't possibly make that decision and who are forced into it,I think that's totally wrong.

Patsy was trying to re-live her "beauty pageant days" thru little JonBonet. I think that borders on child abuse.

Not only are they painted up like little prostitutes, they face all the bitter competition, as you mentioned, and the focus on these little girls is based on looks at least 90%, so to focus so much on looks distracts from who or what a person really is, talents, abilities, dreams, etc.

As such, when a little girl "loses" in the competition, she has learned that she "isn't beautiful enough" and can cause serious self image issues.

My parents made me take modeling classes when I was a teenager, and it was very hard because the focus was all on looks, stance, weight, height, etc. It's way too easy to be self-defeated in those types of competition.

Hi Katie,

As I mentioned, I agree with you 100 percent about beauty pageants for kids. For teens and adults, I think it's okay....I was just trying to give a perspective of someone who has done them. I won a couple of categories and runner up- which in essence, helped pay for my first year of college.

I danced for many years...we were not allowed to cut our hair (I did and got put in the back line as "punishment") and we had weigh in's every week. Too fat- you can't dance.

So I don't own a scale (I know if I have gained weight if my jeans don't fit) and I refuse to ever wear my hair back...it's my way of rebelling against being subject to that when I was younger.

We have relatives in town and we had dinner the other night and we started talking about the OJ case. Apparently my nephews played soccer with Marcia Clarks son and she showed up at all the games. My sister in law said Marica Clark was always "grandstanding" not exactly sure what she meant by that....

By the way, as a side note, our relatives that are visiting are from the Orlando area- they said that most residents in the area got so emotionally invested in the trial/case that if anything were happening on Sunday- the attendance in most churches was way, way down....

Off to run errands and clean, these relatives are staying with us tomorrow and unfortunatley, I do not have a self cleaning house :(

Lynn...you weren't allowed to cut your hair??? I wonder why.

It's been so long ago that OJ Simpson was tried, I don't remember much about it.

I remember Marcia Clark. I don't think back then they had the trial on TV. If they did, I guess I didn't get that channel because I only saw bits and pieces on the news about it.

I remember how mad everyone was that he got off. I remember that the defense kept poking holes in the DA's case, claiming that evidence was planted, moved, altered, etc. by a bigoted police officer. I guess the jury bought it.

Well....all's well that ends well. OJ is in prison hopefully for good now.

They can run, but they can't hide. HA HA.

Oh....do you remember when Scott Peterson was prounced guilty??

Boy, you could hear the shouts of glee all over the world.

Finally...a jury that has some guts!! LOL.

Yeah Lynn I hear ya. Gotta clean this place too.

Have a great weekend!!

We couldn't cut our hair because we had to look uniform and it must be long enough to have curls if we wore it down or in a bun if we did ballet. I got a perm and cut my hair shoulder length and in layers...could not have the unform curly look or the ballet bun look- well I could but it had a million bobby pins in it.

Weigh ins were once a week in front of everyone- you gained more than two pounds you could not dance until you lost it.

Off to get a new mop....
