I ran across this today.  Los Angeles has a new DA, George Gascon, who has ruffled quite a few feathers with his left leaning agenda.  One of the items he wants to change is to automatically grant parole to people who have been incarcerated for 10 years or more.  He just figures they have "learned their lessons".

How will this affect future parole hearings for Manson Family members?  I believe Tex is up for parole in October of 2021.

L.A. DA Gascon Refused to Oppose Parole for Manson Family Killer Bruce Davis

Petition · Keep Charles Manson Cult Serial Killer Charles "Tex" Watson From Getting Parole · Change.org

Gascon is intent on doing to Los Angeles what he did to San Francisco. The only saving Grace on a grand scale is that not only do many other District Attorneys in California oppose him almost at every turn, but the turmoil in his office continues, both with an exodus of staff as well as many seeking to remove him.

Thanks Dill. If Tex gets out, since Charlie's gone now, the rest of them will surely get out. I'm hoping they never get out.

I hope that the other DA's that oppose him can stop this. I don't know if Gascon's power is only in LA County. I'm assuming that some Manson Family members who are imprisoned are in different counties. And I'm also assuming that he can't control parole hearings in other counties. But I don't know that for a fact.

Thanks for keeping us informed on these legal matters!

Watson will most like.y never get out, regardless of who is the LACDA.

It does not matter which county an inmate is housed, it is the county of conviction that matters. In that the county of conviction was LA, it unfortunately falls upon Gascon. That he is no longer going to challenge parole does not make it automatic, it comes down to either family members to be heard, and hopefully influence the parole board, and the power of a governor to overturn a granting of parole.

Oh the county of conviction matters. I didn't know that. The law is complicated!

Thanks Dill!

They are almost certainly not going to let Watson out. He was almost certainly responsible for all five murders at the "Tate" house, the murder of both LaBianca's, and the murder of Donald "Shorty" Shea. There is speculation as to who did what at the crimes scenes, but what I can see with my own eyes, is the gunshot wounds and stab wounds match the weapons Watson had, as well as his "demeanor". Watson didn't have a "knife" like the kind you find in your kitchen drawer, or even a hunting knife, he had a bayonet. A military edged weapon designed for killing. Krenwinkel said she was unable to kill Folger, so she "called Tex". Krenwikel and Van Houten said the were unable to kill Rosemary LaBianca, so they "called Tex". If I remember correctly, the stab wounds on Shea matched a bayonet also, and by that time, Watson was an "expert" with a bayonet.

Charles Watson is one of the main reasons I don't support the death penalty. If anyone ever "deserved" to be executed, it was him. Nevertheless, he's been in prison since around 1970. Still there today as best I know. In that same time many other murderers have been executed, and many others have been released from prison. The "system" is inherently unfair. Some people are executed, while others are not, for the exact same (or worse) crimes.

Crimes stand on their own as they are individual in nature, no facts are every identical. As such, punishment for a crime must, in order to be applied as fairly as possible, be addressed on a case by case basis.

Other murderers in California have been executed in California after Watson was originally sentenced, but his sentence was overturned. They were sentenced under subsequent guidelines which did not violate constitutional standards, thus the differences. Add to that, in
California, as laws have become more “liberal”, the application of sentencing is constantly changing, creating an inequity in sentences. I do know of approximately 730 people that should have their sentence implemented immediately. Sadly, we have a governor who has imposed a freeze on executions, which only makes matters worse.

If Watson had been tried and given the death penalty in Texas, he'd be pushing up daisies by now.

I feel sorry for Watson's parents. That stuff didn't happen back then. A lazy, good-for-nothing son didn't end up being the most notorious killer at the time.

I'm sure they wondered how they went wrong!

When the parolees look at the severity and brutality of what scumbag Watson did he's not going anywhere but an instant trip to he'll where Satan will welcome him with open arms, it's too bad Doris, Shannon, Paul and the rest of the victims can't see it, I HATE HATE HATE that motherfucker and his phony bullshit, I'm a preacher convict mentality, THAT right there should buy him more time........well over 7-8 shot wounds, over 100 stab wounds, vicious beatings, writing on walls, writing sick shit over the walls......fuck him

Unknown said...

Meant Sharon and hell instead of he'll, sorry

I agree Katie, when you look at Watson and his pre 1967 activities you can't help but wonder where this SCUMBAG PIECE OF SHIT came from, when Cali had the death penalty I'd have GIVEN MONEY to strap his ass into the chair and watched him fry, they need to change the laws in this country to let family members do the killing, I'll bet Col Paul would have made Watson suffer

There's a Death Penalty show from Texas and ALL of those fuckers are SCARED STIFF, you can see it in their brains every time one gets close their yelling, shaking, screaming......just think how the victims felt

katie8753 said...

RIGHT-ON "Unknown"!!! HA HA.

If Tex Watson had to undergo even one of the painful wounds he inflicted on his many victims he would cry like a little baby! Because he's just a PUSSY!

Now he's protected as a prisoner so he can espouse his "religious views" regarding the entire thing. Nobody's buying that bullshit!

That fucker even wrote a book and tried to make it look like he was "under a spell" when he did what he did, but even an idiot would know that he's just a fucking liar!

Tex had already separated himself from Charlie and was selling drugs elsewhere. And when that didn't work out, he went back to Charlie. Why? For protection from Lottsapoppa. Because he fucked that shit up!

Hey Beauders, are you okay? What do you think about Quinn trying to get with Carter?

beauders said...

I'm fine Portland is on fire again, even though it never really ended. We had over 150 days of rioting and I'm afraid it's not going to end. A white police officer shot and killed a Mexican man over the weekend. The man was holding a fake gun, but of course the police officer didn't know it was fake. The people don't care they want the officers head. Katie I didn't take it as Quinn coming onto Carter, more likely she was just horny, because she and Eric are not having sex, and admiring Carter's body. Naughty Quinn, but harmless.

katie8753 said...

Wow Beauders, you'd think they would make that stuff against the law!! How much can you burn down? At some point there's nothing left to burn down! Stay safe!

You might be right about Quinn, but I get the feeling that she's gonna start something up with Carter because she's a train-wreck waiting to happen. LOL.

Quinn and Carter would be an interesting storyline. I find Carter dull maybe she could liven him up a bit.

The rioters are breaking and burning things that they broke before. Starbucks seems to piss them off the most and the Oregon Historical Society have been hit several times.

katie8753 said...

That reminds me of a guy I used to work with years ago. He called Oregon "Or-EEE-Gone". I always pronounced it "Or-A-Gun". Which is correct?

I'm surprised that Starbucks makes them mad. Those fellas seem to support all that stuff.

Yeah if Quinn and Carter get together they can start a war with Zoey, who thinks Quinn is her new BFF, and Eric, who can make or break that hunk-a-doodle!

beauders said...

It's pronounced Orgun by Oregonians.
