I absolutely LOVE the photo of the three sisters playing tetherball!GREAT PHOTO!
I like that photo too. It's evident that the girls liked each other then.
What's Doris carving in that last picture? Cake??Paul has his signature cigar going. LOL.
Doris made the comment:"If they had known Sharon and she had done something to them that made them mad....then I might could make sense of this and try to understand. But they didn't even know her. They just killed her."And it's the same with the other victims. I don't believe they knew any of them. That's one thing that makes this crime so sensational. They brutally murdered people they didn't even know, just because their hippy cult leader said to.And then, to add insult to injury...they laughed about it. Laughed all during the trial, laughed afterward. The Manson family girls who weren't in prison laughed and threatened people for years. At least Smith & Hickock didn't laugh about killing the Clutters. And BTW...Smith & Hickock were hung by the neck until they were both dead. No one had to go to their parole hearings.
Lovely pictures..Thanks for sharing Lynyrd.
I know there are varied musical tastes on this board, but if there is one song that captures the Manson story for my it is this one, Jesse Cook's "Closer To Madness"http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kwoySbXEtGo
Leary Said "I am loathe to disagree with Bobby or others, and also to sound like a snob, but I thought this film sucked big time. It has no historical or intellectual value whatsoever. The "star" or narrator is but an overgrown child and simpleton. This is cheap, tawdry voyeurism at its most blatant form. Sorry, just the way I feel."Hi Leary, No hard feelings here. I'm working on a montage of all your previous comments to show the hypocrisy of your statement. But other than that no hard feelings. LOL.
Lynyrd said "I absolutely LOVE the photo of the three sisters playing tetherball!"Who had tetherball in their back yard back then ?I saw my first tetherball in about 1975 in a playground in a campground. It sure seemed like a strange game when I first came across it.Hard to win against a tall lanky person with a good serve.
Bobby good question. I was wondering whose yard this was. Maybe the Tate residence??
Okay folks, I've been thru a lot of 70's songs, but I keep coming up with Cat Stevens. Lynyrd, Can you or do you have any info on Thelma & Lousie's blog. It went through a transition that ended up as not being there anymore. If it is more apropreiate to email that is ok. Just wondering what happened.Bob.
Hi Bobby! As far as I know, Thelma & Louise just packed it up. I do know that they both have other blogs they run/follow, so maybe it was just a lot of trouble...I don't know.I doubt that they will be gone forever, however, I don't know what happened. I wish them both well. I wish they would drop by this blog from time to time so we could communicate.Maybe Lynyrd can shed more light.I too was very saddened....
Thank you Katie.
Hi Bob.For a week or so... the Thelma and Louise blog was online... but, with all the threads hidden (or deleted).I think a blog administrator can 'hide" threads, without actually deleting them.Although... I've never actually looked into that... or tried/used that option.Their site remained open, but with no threads visible... for a week or so.Then suddenly... the blog was completely deleted.I have no further information to offer you, beyond that.I wish both ladies... Thelma and Louise... the absolute BEST... and, sincerely hope to see them re-surface once again, in some capacity.Lot's of great memories...They're both welcome here anytime. They're both Great Ladies!
