Thanks so much for this, Venus - it's terrific! Jay looks so cute. He didn't seem as talkative as the other two contestants. I love how Barry Nelson didn't vote for him because he looked too suntanned to work indoors cutting people's hair!
I love seeing Jay alive! Before that cult saw to his death because Manson is a sissy baby about his stupid music career, which didn't exist because he's a no-talent piece of shit wanna-be music player that can't carry a tune in a bucket!
I'm sorry for that comment. This is not about Manson, it's about Jay Sebring, long before Manson even knew he existed. I've said it before, and I'll say it again, that the only one I had even heard of when the Cielo Drive murders happened was Jay Sebring. He was an international sensation. Even in the podunk town I lived in, the boys I went to high school with were getting the "Sebring" haircut.
Thanx for that Venus, I'd never seen that. I didn't even know Jay was in Hollywood in 1963. I knew which one he was though as soon as I seen them. I also knew Frank Sinatra's eyes were blue.
Katie, the first contestant turned out to be a wallpaper salesman! The fake contestants were quite good but they both made a major mistake - the first one, I think, said Henry Fonda had the most hair (certainly Elvis must have had the most hair) and the second one said Sinatra's eyes were brown. Jay, for all his popularity, was the most quiet and modest. He seemed very shy. I love how $25 back in the day was considered very expensive! Great show, thanks again, Venus!
Thanks Carol. I had never heard that Jay was on this show in all these years. This is real news to me. I can't wait for the documentary to come out. I wonder if there are other shows he was on that we don't know about!
Venus, thanks for telling us that Jay is seen at the end of the show. I'll have to watch the whole thing now! And, yes, you did tell me that Jay was shy. You can really tell from this episode. Was he seeing Sharon at the time of this show? I should know that by now!
Thanks Venus. I thought it's interesting that he had a man who did the hair washing. I've always seen women doing that. But maybe since it was a man's hair salon, they felt better if a man washed their hair???
He had female manicurists and I'm sure he had women washing hair at some time. I can remember reading somewhere that "starlets" washed hair, probably looking for their big break since he had producers, etc. as clients.

I know Carol! Jay got 3 votes, which means he was "real". LOL. I love that!
That first guy is "Hubba Hubba"! Good looking guy! I wonder who he is. He looks like the Flintstone's movie star, Rock Quarry! HA HA.

Jay was a legend in his own time! Seriously!

You can see him briefly at the end of the episode, mingling with the panelists and other guests.
Glad you all enjoyed this. I've had it for YEARS but had no way of sharing it so I was glad to find it.
LOL at the "Rock Quarry" comment, Katie, but so true!!
I don't think people seem to realize how well known Jay was.
Carol, I think I told you that I spoke to a friend of his and he said that Jay was quite shy.
Oh thanks Venus. I didn't watch the whole thing, just the part with Jay in it. I'll have to watch it until the end.
Or you can skip thru the part with the other contestant....that's what I did when I 1st got my video, lol.
Yeah good thinking!!! :)
Actually, none of them was really named Jay Sebring. LOL.
He had a porter?? What does a porter do?

I think a porter just does what needs to be done--sweeps, cleans, possibly parks cars--a jack of all trades....
Carol, Jay and Cami were married at the time. This aired in Jan. of 1963, they separated in Aug. of that year.
LOL, Katie, you're right, not his real name....

Oh wow, thanks Venus. I didn't know that!
