LINDA KASABIAN AND JOE SAGE.... NEW MEXICO

Whatever happened to Joe Sage, the guy that Linda ran off to New Mexico and confessed to right after the murders?

Here's an old article done in 1978 from the Berkeley Barb:
(**A photo of the obstructed print is at the bottom of the thread, if you'd like to read it...)

According to some folks that posted on the Ancestry.com message board, he was quite a "character".....

From a person that responded to the above post on Ancestry:

Anyway, turns out he passed away in Southern California in 1996:

Thanks Kimchi! That just shows how dangerous Manson was and probably still is.

Thanks Kimchi!

I took the liberty of enlarging a few things (so everything is readable), and I reposted the obstructed print at the bottom...

I think he was full of bullshit in that interview....I tend to believe the lady that wrote on the Ancestry board (I think it was 2008)...

I picture him as a dirty old man!

Oh, and another thing, Linda went to his place in August 1969, and turned herself in in December 1969, so his dates are off in that interview...

Yeah he sounds like a dirty old man. Linda Kasabian wasn't very particular who she hung out with. LOL.

I just thought it was cool seeing a picture of the dude...and learn a little more about him...other than what was in HS...

Another Deane Moorhouse it seems...except he didn't worship Charlie...but again, appears he never met Charlie...

Have to put blame on the girls (mostly) for the claimed harassment he got during and after the trials...if in fact he got any...refer back to Sypes' book on how the Family acted and retaliated during that time...

That pretty much mirrors what Linda said in court. Bugliosi leaves out so much about Sage in "Helter Skelter" because he really only had a limited part to play in that book.
Linda was put under intense scrutiny about her movements when she fled Spahn and Kanarek and {I think} Fitzgerald would question her about things that frankly had nothing to do with the case, yet, shed a tremendous amount of light on both Linda and a number of other people, one of whom was Sage. It was put in HS that he was this generous, genial guy that heard this horrific tale and phoned up Charlie to question him and gave Linda $$$s to fly to LA and the name of a good lawyer to help her plight.......the reality according to Linda {and for that matter, Bugliosi} was that Sage didn't believe her. He called Charlie at Spahn but Linda wasn't there when they spoke. It transpired that Sage wanted her to become {as she put it} "his old lady" and they seemed to be getting it together.....this, while Tanya was still separated from her.
Linda didn't come out of her testimony looking great {which is why she was so effective in damning Charlie, Tex, Susan & Pat} but Sage came out of it looking exactly as Kimchi described him !

My dad was born in 1923, 5 years younger than this guy.....I can tell you honestly, there's no way my dad would have behaved or believed in this way of life in 1969---that Joe Sage guy was weird (in my opinion)...same as with that creepy guy Paul Crockett...
