Poland to Consider Extraditing Polanski

Christian Hartmann / Reuters
Roman Polanski will be questioned by Polish officials who have received an extradition request from officials in Los Angeles. The director, who lives in France, has been in Poland preparing to shoot a new movie. “Prosecutors will want to summon Polanski for questioning,” a spokesman for the prosecutor general’s office in Warsaw said. Polanski pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl in 1977 but then fled the U.S. the following year.

I doubt there will be extradition not because of anything to do with Polanski but because of the way extradition is handled between US and Europe. Extraditing Polanski would open the door to other fugitives and felons that I don't think Poland or the US cares to get involved in because of the cost and amount of man hours required to do so. I don't see Italy and the US extraditing Amanda Knox even. It must be really a lot of work to extradite or it would be done for more than just a select few. Europe and the US like to keep their autonomy partly by way of ignoring each other's extradition requests

Well, that's ironic, the Poles giving a Pole to the poles.

What others are you talking about Mr. P?

katie8753 said...

Polanski doesn't have a top lip.

katie8753 said...

I'm studying his picture. He has old man big ears and jowls.

A peek, a poke, and a pole. In that order. Or otherwise...

I doubt if Poland will extradite Polanski. While Poland seems to be seeking American JASSM missiles, probably to counter the growing threat from Russia, they probably wouldn't consider it "European" to extradite someone like Polanski to the US. It seems to me Polanski is from Poland and he's famous, I doubt the Poles will send him to the US over 30 year old sex charges.

Katie, you're right he does have something of a thin upper lip although to be honest I think that looks better than those big fat lips people ( I guess mainly women but who knows) pay their plastic surgeons for these days. They look ridiculous. And what is up with the " butt' implants people are getting now. I'll never understand the popularity of having a fat ass. But anyway, back to Polanski- I have never thought of him as being a attractive man but I actually think his looks have improved with age. He kind of grew into that " elfin" look he has. I don't really have strong feelings about him either way but I do think he is a talented person and probably very interesting to talk to. The Pianist and Rosemary's Baby are two of my favorite movies. The extras on the pianist DVD where he talks about how the movie parallels his own life were really interesting to watch.

A lot of men's looks improve with age. So unfair. Wrinkles, jowls, doesn't matter. They can still be considered handsome.

I'm with Poirot and Sunset on this one.

I just don't see this happening.

If any European nation was going to send Polanski back to the US, it would have happened a long time ago.

I find this odd that an LA prosecutor spends time filing these requests for extradition.
My guess is they are merely trying to keep reminding Polanski that they are still "the man".
Another words they are effing with him.
Another reason I doubt the sincerity of the extradition request id Polanski's age. Even if he is incarcerated most jails don't like to take elderly prisoners because of the cost of providing health care.
Financially this would cost millions of dollars in taxpayers money at a time when California is in money trouble.

Hi Krissy. There were 2 movies that Polanksi did that I liked. One was Day of the Dolphin and the other was The Pianist. I've said that before.

As far as Polanski's looks go, he was ugly when he was young, and now he's uglier.

I don't know how to say that kindly, so I'll just say it. I can be very blunt.

As far as men getting better looking as they get older, take a look at Manson. A more pathetic and dismal picture I can't imagine.

But that's just me.

If anyone wants to champion Manson, please have at it.

katie8753 said...

It's funny, if I defend Polanski, I get shot-gunned. But if I take the other trail and say he's not attractive, I get gunned down again.

Can't win for losing I guess...

Polanski was born in Paris to Polish parents. They went back to Poland shortly before Hitler attacked Poland and the war started. I believe why he went to France when he got in trouble, he is a citizen of France.

Sharon used to cut his hair. Now it looks like shit.

That goombah needs to think about that before he talks about getting out of this problem.

He fucked a girl a week after Sharon was murdered.

I don't think much of him. I felt sorry for him because he was in the Holocaust, but I don't think much of him now.

Krissy Deen said...

Hey Katie, I wasn't trying to upset you- sorry if I did. It doesn't matter to me either way if you think Polanski is ugly. I don't think he's exactly handsome myself. I was just saying that he was somebody- who in my opinion anyway got a little better looking with age. It was just a observation on my part, nothing more and nothing less. Roman Polanski is not someone I really think about at all, but I do think he's made a couple of good movies. And yes, Manson certainly is one who gets uglier as time goes by I agree.

katie8753 said...

Hey Krissy, it's cool. I think the subject of Roman can be very touchy anyway.

I think the guy oughta just go back willingly and face the music on this thing. He can afford some fast talking lawyer and maybe get community service and be done with this once and for all.

Another thing that's upsetting about this is that every time the media mentions Polanski, they bring up Geimer. She is a grown woman now with a family and I'm sure she is sick of hearing about all this and wants it to be over with.

louis365 said...

Sharon certainly didn't marry him for his looks.

She once said that he was an "ugly little man"

I guess he's not much taller than Manson.

CarolMR said...

Katie, right - Sharon cut his hair the way Jay taught her. I didn't know she called him "an ugly little man." I find that hard to believe.

Arias may have the death penalty dropped from her case. I think Nurmi is doing an all out aggressive, successful defense of Arias in the penalty phase after taking a lot of heat for being inadequate in the original trial.

My question about this case now concerns why Arizona spending so much money on this trial? Can America continue to spend millions on every murder trial?
The long Manson trial may have set the precedent for an era of long trials.
Lynchings are a more economical method of handling murderers.

MrPoirot said...

Here's all you need for a good lynching. A rope, 4 or 5 pissed off guys on horseback and one old guy dressed as a confederate colonel to manage the hanging.

katie8753 said...

Carol I think Roman's hair looked a whole lot better when Sharon cut it. Now it looks disheveled and unkempt to me.

I don't remember the ugly little man comment either.

katie8753 said...

Mr. P, that Arias trial is the biggest joke on record. Judge Stephens can't seem to make a decision regarding anything and she's letting Nurmi run her over with all of his excuses and delays.

They told the jury when they picked them that the trial would be over in December, but Stephens has halted the trial so much it will probably go into March. Every week there's some new "issue" to have to discuss.

As far as Arias not getting her way in testifying in "private", that's tough. It's her decision to testify, so she can just make up her mind...do it in public or not at all.

And yes, they've wasted enough money on that psycho. If I was a taxpayer in AZ I'd be livid.

katie8753 said...

Nurmi & Willlmott are public defenders so they get paid a day or hourly rate from the State. It's to their benefit to drag this out as long as they can.

Can't say I approve of Lynching -per say...But when it comes to people like muggers and the like, I have a penchant for the cure of the good old Cat 'o' Nine Tails. Give their hides a good tanning with that and presto! cured!!

I don't remember where I got that quote from Katie, but it's not from a book. At least I don't think so. I'm thinking it came from one of the many video's on this. Next time I see/hear it, I'll let you know. But I am not making this up lol! Maybe the person you said it was, but I'm not

I think the prosecution just lost the chance to get the DP for Arias even though Judge Sherry denied the defense's request to have it tossed.
there is definitely a question of did the DAs office tamper with the hard drives. Jurors are not going to want to give the DP if something possibly is amiss.

Mr. P, even if she doesn't get the death penalty, she will be in prison most likely for the rest of her life.

She won't get any attention from the media anymore and that would kill her, because she loves attention.

Hopefully, some inmate will kill her to get attention. Then we will be done.
