Michael from Backporch Tapes Rocks!

He's the coolest, most laid-back, generous guy, that I've met in my TLB travels.
I've never had so much as a hint of trouble from him.
He's always a gentlemen... a gracious host... and he's funny as hell.
I can't say enough good things about Mike.
I wish there were more Michael's floating around in our world.

I'm glad he's getting exposure on the Science channels.

Best of Luck Michael, from all of us here at LSB3!

Well said Lynyrd!!

Interesting about the pipe, eh?

But as they said, no way to prove one way or the other....

sorry... that's gentleman (singular)... not gentlemen (plural). LOL

Interesting stuff! Lynyrd, where's the rest of it?

I think the rest of the story, is coming-up in subsequent episodes.

IE...
I think there may be more upcoming shows (on the Science Channel), regarding the suspected murder weapon (pipe), Shorty Shea, etc.

I told Brian Davis the other Day He should get Michael on the Show and I hope He can make that happen.
If not I wonder if He would do a Q & A for the Blog?
Bet Hes got some great Stories to tell and He seems like a pretty cool Guy.

Matt...he says he hates blogging, but you never know...

(((JOSH))) might be able to talk him into something...

Has Brian contacted him about the radio show? If not, he should....

matt prokes said...

Brian said he contacted him about doing the show a while back but they couldn't get it together at the time and he left it on the backburner.
He said He would try again...he also said michael wasn't against the Idea.
Maybe if Brian reads this He can fill in the blanks....I don't want to put words in anyones mouth.
It seems like a natural for SCR doesn't it?

Someone emailed this link.

It's about a modern-day hippie commune, which began in the 60's.
Evidently, this commune is the oldest in the nation, and is still fully operational for anyone who wants to "get away". LOL!
It's kinda interesting.

It seems there's a movie in the works about it, as well.
(Trailer halfway down the page)

I wish Michael had kept the pipe. He is a modern day Steven Weiss.

$3 a day living? Better than the $20,000 that it costs for me to live in college! Maybe ill drop out of college and join!!!

KIDDING of course!!! I told my mom and she thought I was actually seriously

Michael is indeed the best !!! A real gentleman and someone I hope gets interviewed on Brian's show.

Lauren your college library may be a gold mine of Manson books. Have you checked it out? It may have out of print books. There's a list of Charlie books over at CharlesManson.com

They've talked before, from what I remember. Michael has been around this stuff for over 20 years. He's been around since Sandy and George did the weekend excursions to Corcoran.
Michael is the coolest of the cool. A very good friend of mine and someone I'd gladly share a freezing tent in Death Valley with anytime....wait, already been there.....lol
December is a bad time for tent camping in the desert!!!
Michael is AWESOME!!!! Find him on Facebook under Backporch Tapes or on youtube and bug him to do the show......make a petition....lol
I'll mention something to him as well
;)

Poirot replies:

Josh that would be a good thread for those of us who've never camped in DV in December. Charlie and the Family lived up there in Dec 68.
In the words of Ed Mcmahon, "how cold ewas it?"

I'd heard the term "you can feel it in your bones" but it gained new meaning there. The ground gets like an ice cube and sleeping on the desert ground is COLD!!!
They must have taken a lot of wood with them too, cause there isn't very much out there, unless you climb a mountain, a LARGE mountain, and get the wood from the trees way at the top.....
It's a BEAUTIFUL place and I love it there!!!!
Just be prepared for extreme weather....both ways :)

It would be a good thread.....
thank you Mr.P :)
