Patty Duke's former home,
once rented-out to Sharon Tate, is for Sale.
By Debbie Emery - Radar Reporter

Iconic stage and screen star Patty Duke not only owned this Beverly Hills mansion, she even rented it out to doomed actress Sharon Tate, and eloquently wrote about her elegant home in a memoir.

"It was a colonial mansion off Benedict Canyon in Beverly Hills, jutting out on its own precipice at the top of the mountain with a twelve-car parking lot, a four car garage and a 360-degree view of Los Angeles," revealed Duke in Call Me Anna, reported ParadiseLeased.com.

"Its nine rooms were big, bright and airy, with bay windows and fireplaces everywhere. Everyone who sees this house loves it; Sharon Tate later rented it for a while when she first got pregnant, and she and Roman Polanski wanted to buy it. For Harry (Falk) and me, two young people supposedly starting out in life, there was great, great excitement about living there."

According to Zillow.com, despite its colorful past, the 5-bedroom, 6-bathroom house has been on the market for more than a year and now the seller has dropped the original price of $6.5 million to $5.395 million.

With its white walls, shuttered windows, refreshing swimming pool and neatly trimmed hedges, the 1942-built home is a slice out of Hollywood history.

Instead of buying the house from the Valley Of The Dolls star back in the 60s, Polanski moved into the ill-fated house on Cielo Drive where his then-pregnant wife Sharon would be murdered by the Manson Family.

Thanks Venus!!

Hey check this out. It's Patty's house with clips of Sharon when she lived there!!

This house was MUCH more beautiful than the Cielo Drive house. It's too bad they had to move....

Sharon looked so happy there. I'm sure she had good times there. :)

katie8753 said...

I can guarantee you that the nasty Manson family never set foot in this house. LOL. It's so clean and fresh!

it was this house that polanski was chased, by Alsations, into the garage and got locked in and had to batter his way out. sanders claimed the dogs belonged to the Process Church of the Final Judgment.

Thanks Beauders.

I believe that's the first house that they hired Winifred Chapman to clean. She was probably relieved when they moved to Cielo Drive. Much less to clean. LOL.

Thanks for the great video, Venus! Is this the house where the backyard party with Jay and Sharon was filmed? Sharon was wearing a long striped beach robe. I like this house, but I like Cielo (the original one) more. It had such charm. But I wish Sharon and Roman had stayed in Patty's house, for obvious reasons.

katie8753 said...

Hi Carol. I think the video you're talking about was filmed at Jay's house.

Venus said...

Yes, you're right, Katie. That particular video was filmed at Jay's house.

I think this house is so lovely. supposedly, the reason they moved was because Roman couldn't agree on a buying price.

It's a very beautiful house.

Andy Griffith died today.

RIP Sheriff Taylor....

He's already buried on some island in NC. That was quick!

RIP

katie8753 said...

Wow that was quick. They buried him at 11:30am. He was barely cold. Evidently in NC it's not against the law to bury someone who isn't embalmed.

Venus said...

I thought it was only Deputy Fife who kept the bullet in his pocket?

It's weird to think that "Goober" and "Sheriff Taylor" died so close together. May they rest in peace at that filling station in the sky....

katie8753 said...

I think the fictional town "Mayberry" was set in NC. Must have been Andy's wish. LOL.

Hi ya Bobby!!! Long time no see......

Let's see, cast of characters:

Andy - Sheriff

Barney - Deputy

Emmett - Filling Station Owner

Gomer - Filling Station Worker

Aunt Bea - Spinster Aunt who came to care for Andy and Opie, when Andy's wife mysteriously died

Opie - Andy's young son

Clara - nosy neighbor

Otis - town drunk

Goober - Gomer's cuz

The Darlin's - Hillbilly musical family

Earnest T. Bass - Hillybilly trouble maker in love with Charlene Darlin'

Howard Sprague - Dull citizen of Mayberry who lives with Mom

Floyd Lawson - Barber to the stars

Helen - one of Andy's girlfriends*

Thelma Lou - one of Barney's girlfriends*

Now WHO am I leaving out????

*there are more but I can't think of them.

katie8753 said...

Favorite episode:

The one where Opie makes friends with Mr. McBeevy, who walks in the trees and gives him stuff. Andy doesn't believe him and wants to punish him. The scene where Opie can't admit that there isn't a Mr. McBeevy, and his lips are quivering always makes me cry. Waaaaahhhh.

katie8753 said...

I found it on You Tube.

I spelt it wrong. Mr. McBeevee. LOL.

Course it all turns out okay in the end. :)

katie8753 said...

I wonder if Roman ever did any "man things" like mow the yard or change the oil.....

I guess not. He wasn't very manly. LOL.

I don't get why Sharon was attracted to this guy. I like men with big arms and chests, not a scrawny little guy like this.

Some meat on his bones. LOL.

I like a man that can lift heavy objects, fix things around the house, carry out the trash, gulp down the dinner I fix and like it, bathe the kiddos, sit and watch Knot's Landing with me, enjoy reading in bed, fishing, museuming, site-seeing in different cities, shagging in the shower, you know, lots of stuff. HA HA.

katie8753 said...

What's funny is that when Roman and Sharon lived on Summitridge Drive and on Cielo Drive, they had crappy furniture.

I guess they weren't into stuff like that.

It looks like they had Salvation Army furniture.

Maybe it was too much to move.

If any of you has ever heard of kinder more heartfelt words ever said about anyone other than these final words about Sheriff Taylor by ThelmaLou I'd sure like to hear them.

I have two pups named Barney and ThelmaLou. I grew up in a town like Mayberry just two hours South of Mt Airy NC. My uncle was the yown barber. My aunt lived next door. America used to be like Mayberry. It is so sad to know that Andy and America are all gone now.

katie8753 said...

OH Mr. P. I'm so sorry!

The Andy Griffith Show was such a wonderful show. I teared up too!!!

God Love You!!! :)

LynyrdSkynyrdBand said...

All kidding aside, "Planters" really knows peanuts.

I've been buying the no-name peanuts, thinking... "a peanut is a peanut", right?
I mean... how the funk, does one actually make a peanut taste better?

I bought the Planters the other day, and these things are freakin' AWESOME!

It must be that "dry roasting" process, or something.
I'm still not quite sure how they actually make a nut taste better... but they do! LOL

They also leave the skin on many of the peanuts, which (to me) adds to the flavor, as well.

katie8753 said...

Mr. P I watched that clip on "Thelma Lou". What a nice person she is. Such a delight! She speaks highly of Andy and Barney.

It's interesting that when Barney left, the show started going downhill, which happens a lot in sitcoms. The characters disappear and it's just not the same show. Then when it became Mayberry RFD, fo-geta boutit. LOL.

katie8753 said...

Hi Bobby. Welcome back to the "tard blog". HA HA.

Don't even think twice about that ignoro-ANUS nobody doofus. Her opinion is not important to anyone.

katie8753 said...

Bobby I totally agree with you. If Barbara wants to go to the parole hearings and say what she heard, how is that profiting from a crime?

Making fun of her for being fat is just plain mean-spirited. But it's more or less the raison d'être of that arena you were in.

You had a legitimate question and had every right to ask it. What Suze said to you was just rude and offensive. Maybe it's her lunar cycle. LOL.

The Andy Griffith Show was one of the best half hour situation comedies in American television history. Everyone I know watched it and loved it.

A simpler, more innocent time when profanity and adult situations weren't the norm.

So I'd just like to pay respects to Andy here as well. God Bless. You have earned your rest.

katie8753 said...

I agree Tom. TVLand had The Andy Griffith Show on today and I watched a few episodes. So many family values and common sense.

Just good plain entertainment. It's the kind of TV I was raised on.

TomG said...

He was America's Sheriff. Stand your ground at the same time you are respectful and sympathetic to the situations of those in trouble.

Don't take no nonsense, but try to find a common ground with your fellow man.

For me, Andy Griffith was what we all try to be. A good man.

And the show was well-written, funny and entertaining.

LynyrdSkynyrdBand said...

How can people not see a goal here?

We're clearly talking about Planters peanuts and Andy Griffith.
LMAO......

katie8753 said...

Yo, Suze. I just caught a batch of worms for fishing. Would you like some for dinner?

Open wide bitch. That's it...draw back your teeth, pull back your sleazy tongue (the dick one) and let it slide down the gullet.

Wow...these fish are soooooo dumb. Just like Suze.

HAHAHA.

She's probably flopping on the shore as we speak.

English must be her second language. Her first is fish-talk.

Making "O's" with her open mouth.

HA HA.

TomG said...

For some reason, you don't like other women......why?

katie8753 said...

Tom I don't like "other women" that attack someone for no reason.

Fishy women...the kind that don't harbor anywhere...just slink around...like bottom feeders. Like Carp.

The kind that suddenly attack an innocent man like a barracuda with no provocation at all.

The kind that doesn't care about a community that doesn't like the word "tard".

The kind that should be drawn and quartered. And will be.

And no one will care. Because she's so fucking insignificant.

She blasted off to Bobby for no fucking reason at all, and I will make sure that she pays for it. She will not do that to my friend......PERIOD!!!!

Suze is an uneducated crackwhore. She misuses the English language like a lightersabre to smack.

She thinks that she has the upper hand, but she never does. Why? Because she forgets to zip her britches back up after gettin' eaten by a hairy-faced John who promised to take her to the Dairy Queen to get a Hungrbuster with fries and a Delta Queen Ice Cream Log.

She loves to suck that up. Being the fat slob she is.

She likes to talk about Debra or Barbara being fat because it makes her feel better about her astronomical weight. 360 pounds and counting. HA HA.

Maybe she will try that new macro diet.

HA HA.

Suze you just thought that you were attacking an innocent person.

Think again! Don't EVER attack my friend Bobby again.

And you will apologize to him tomorrow. I will expect that.

Cheers, fatso!!!!

katie8753 said...

Well it looks like the fat lady finally sang. LOL.

katie8753 said...

Bobby, you're a super terrific guy. You have a big heart and would never hurt anyone intentionally. You deserve to be treated with respect, always.

S-M-O-O-C-H!!! LOL.

LynyrdSkynyrdBand said...

Bob, you're a good egg.
You handled that well.
Don't sweat the small stuff on these blogs... and believe me, it's all small stuff.

A sick child or parent... a lay-off letter from an employer... a failing marriage... those are real-life problems.
This blog crapola is just a hobby.

I could honestly care less what anyone thinks of me on these blogs, at this point.
I don't even bother responding to nonsense anymore.

I put new information on here at my leisure for people to enjoy, discuss and socialize.
That's the long and short of it... nothing more, nothing less.

I have at least a dozen responsibilities in my life, which supercede this blog... as I'm sure you do, as well.

Don't sweat the small stuff Bro... and believe me... it's all small stuff, when you really get down to it.

Peace Brother!

katie8753 said...

Lynyrd I agree. It's all small stuff. There are others fighting again on the blogs as we speak.

Same old shit...different day. Arguing about the same things over and over again.

It's not worth the bullshit.

I am gonna sink into my Grecian hot tub and soak....Aaahhhhh....

LynyrdSkynyrdBand said...

Katie always agrees with me after she freaks-out. LOL

Women...

Oh well, whatcha gonna do?

As that guy in the movie "Young Guns" said it best:
"Sometimes it's tough havin' pals"

The house was ruined by "renovations" as many vintage homes are. By the time they get through you can't recognize the house and all the simple charm is GONE. That's sad - you can't recognize this place from what it was.
