Charlie VS Lemonheads
YOU Decide!

Close call... they're both good versions... but, I give Charlie the nod here, by a small margin...

I think Manson's version is a tad more spirited/heartfelt.
Or... maybe, it's just that I'm more used to Manson's voice...

As an aside:
I give Manson major props for staying so focused (both hythmically and vocally), with that LSD percussion section playing so haphazardly in the background.
They start-off keeping pretty good time... but halfway in... it becomes a complete cat fight. LOL
Hallucinogens and hand drums... always an interesting outcome.

Freakin WEIRD...

I had JUST posted this Lemonheads video... and Miss Spiritual Tramp... had just sent me a copy (of the same video)!

Karma?
Coincidence?
Great minds thinking alike?

I like to think, it's because me and the strikingly beautiful young lady are soul-mates myself... LOL... but, I digress!

AHahahaha

Seriously... I had JUST finished publishing this... and, I found her video in my inbox.

What's weirder... is, the time stamped on her message, was the same time, I had started working on the thread.

Twilight Zone...

Charlie wins it hands down for me. I really like his style. No great commercial potential, it's more busking style really. And as usual, his songwriting draws upon his thoughts & philosophy FWIW, and what's going on around him. And to pull that off is a real skill.

If you think about it, Manson's compositions have as much quality lyrical content & invention as pretty much any singer-songwriter stuff from that (great) era. And, like Lynyrd says, the delivery is spirited & heartfelt.

So, Charlie wins the X'd out of Society Factor. .......Sorry, I know

Charlie you have my vote...

Lynyrd....my soul mate I have finally found you!!!!hahhaa yeah that was pretty Twilight Zone like...synchronicity in action for sure.

And yes as much as I LOVE & WORSHIP on the alter of Dando I have to give this to Charlie.

Thanks for the kind words Lynyrd...I can totally take a compliment no false modesty here.

I vote for the Lemonheads.

I'd rather listen to someone getting a root canal without anesthesia than listen to Charlie sing that song....or ANY song. HA HA.

HA HA HA. Dis you crack me up!

Okay I watched that movie The Manson Family by Jim Van Bebber, and it is completely UNWATCHABLE.

It's a combination of a Russ Meyer film and a Quiroz Brothers film.

This Van Bebber guy either didn't bother to research this case, or wanted to ad lib it.

Don't bother to watch it unless you're (a) too stupid to live,(b) horny, (c) don't care if the plot is factual but you like a lot of stabbing or (d) thought you rented something good by mistake and are too lazy to turn it off.

Coming soon to a porn movie closet theater somewhere near you. LOL.

Example of the idiocy in this movie:

Tex stabs Abigail in the kitchen (yes...the kitchen....HA HA), then she manages to crawl from the kitchen, thru the dining room, thru the living room, thru the hallway, thru the bedroom, out past the pool, then finally dies. Cough cough.

Now that's cinematography at its best. LOL.

You know what's always bugged me? Is that Tex told Sadie to tie Frykowski's hands with a towel.

Now what kind of towel is going to tie someone up?

Even one of those cheap towels you steal from hotels (not that I've done that.....ummmm), would tie someone up, but an expensive towel that's big and fluffy...Get outta here.

You can't even tie that. It's too bulky. And of course Frykowski got his binds undone.

I guess the Devil wasn't thinking too good that night. LOL.

I got the A-C covered, so I'm def. getting her.. Thanks!

I mean, that fucker had nine miles of 5-pylon rope, and he had a knife to cut it with to tie him up, but he ordered Sadie to find a TOWEL to tie Frykowski up?

Sorry....I just find that more than stupid. HA HA HA.

Course that's good ole baby-killin' Tex. Wasn't the sharpest tack in the box.

You could do a quadruple backup knot, a butterfly knot, a square knot and a figure eight knot on my wrists with a towel, and I'd get out of it faster than Houdini even on his best day.

HA HA HA.

I think the Manson Music only really sounded great sung by the Family, at Spahn Ranch.
Just listen to them sing at the start of ITMG. Clem or Paul playing and leading, and the girls harmonizing. It's fantastic, really, perfect. But you can see why it failed as a recording.

The girls wanted to 'look at me while we sang" according to Charlie, drawing their focus from his inspiration, and in a studio, it wouldn't work. So Manson's music always sounds flat and dull and derivative and you wonder what the big deal was, til you hear them sing in their own little world, all together.
