INTER AMERICAN COMMISSION FOR HUMAN RIGHTS ACCEPTS MANSON CASE
Not being an international lawyer myself... I'm not quite sure what the INTER-AMERICAN COMMISSION FOR HUMAN RIGHTS, actually represents, or what their powers/influence involve.  But evidently... Di Stefano contacted these folks with three communications on Jan. 28... Feb. 2 & 22, respectively... and they've accepted the Manson case, and are currently reviewing it.  This is in addition to the clemency petition Di Stefano filed with Governor Jerry Brown.

INTER AMERICAN COMMISSION FOR HUMAN RIGHTS ACCEPTS MANSON CASE - MAY 15, 2011:

STATEMENT FROM GIOVANNI DI STEFANO ON CHARLES MANSON

"For the first time in over 40 years an independant Court will finally review the trial and wrongful conviction of Charles Manson. The IACHR has accepted the case as filed by us making a number of complaints regarding the manner upon which Mr Manson was 'persecuted' to conviction.
Whilst not at all trying to belittle the crimes and horrendous murders that were committed those responsible for such do not include Charles Manson and as such he is entitled to a voice in a court that will truly be independant of any prejudice.

An application on a without prejudice basis has also been filed with Jerry Brown the Governor of California and I hope that finally Mr Manson will be released and seen by history not as the mass murderer but as the leader of a cult group of people who sought to live within their own beliefs. Mr Manson did not and has never believed in the act of murder and has never committed murder nor sought anyone to committ such. the conduct of the prosecution and the economic viability of the prosecutors future was founded upon a conviction.

Here are three further reasons why the whole matter should be reviewed and I am content that even after 40 years the IACHR has accepted jurisdictions:

(1) Prosecuting Attorney Aaron Stovitz violated a federal gag order on the case three months into the trial. Stovitz was then replaced by Vincent Bugliosi, who was later brought up on charges of perjury FOR VIOLATING A GAG ORDER just as Stovitz!! Years later when Stovitz was interviewed he said that he believed that Charles Manson had an unfair trial.
(2)A juror stole one of the Sharon Tate death photos and sold it to a European tabloid magazine. The juror was not excused and the trial went on. The juror should have been excused (and prosecuted) for this but never occured.
(3) Charles Manson was given a newspaper with the headlines “Nixon Declares Manson Guilty” which the jury saw. This alone should have been grounds for a mistrial, but none of the jurors were excused and the trial went on.

For all of the above reasons, and I hope it is not too late,a review is finally taking place. I will be filing further submissions in due course."

GIOVANNI DI STEFANO

Di Stefano is now saying:
"“There is now evidence from a California Police Officer that Tex Watson may well have committed murder some nine months prior to any of the killings, which if correct, would destroy the theory of the Prosecutor that the co-defendants murdered by the mind control of the Applicant.” Allegedly, this new evidence ties Tex Watson to the murder of an elderly man Karl Stubbs in Olancha, California before Watson was involved with Manson.
This is an excerpt, from correspondence between Giovanni Di Stefano and President Barack Obama:
"Tex Watson was seen following a man named Karl Stubbs to his house and that man was later found dead on 9/15/1968 in Olancha, California."
(According to Di Stefano) This the verbatim statement from a California Police Officer:
I have another murder that I want to tell you about. The victim is an 80 year old man named Karl Stubbs who was killed November 15, 1968 in Olancha, Ca., almost a year before Tate/LaBianca/Hinman/Shea. A witness identified Tex Watson in 1970. There were also two unknown girls there when Karl was beaten. The murder was not followed up on. Why? Because Charlie was nowhere near Olancha then and it would show that Tex is the serial killer. There is no way the Bug (Vincent Bugliosi) could have convinced the jury that he had total mind control on everyone back in 1968.

A little "character background" on Di Stefano:
London-based Giovanni Di Stefano, 55, whose clients have included Saddam Hussein, Gary Glitter, Harold Shipman and Ian Brady was arrested in Spain... february 2011. A Spanish police source said Di Stefano was wanted on 18 counts of fraud, theft and money-laundering between 2004 and 2009. Most of those charges relate to the alleged defrauding of clients.
Di Stefano was close friends with Serbian warlord Željko Ražnatović, aka Arkan, before his assassination.
Di Stefano was jailed for five years for fraud in March 1986 and was banned from being a company director after trying to steal tens of thousands of pounds through cheques drawn on imaginary banks.
His appeal was dismissed in January 1987 when Lord Justice Stephen Brown concluded his trial had 'revealed a very deep and wide measure of fraudulent behaviour.'
All this leaves me wondering... is Di Stefano a criminal himself?
Does Manson really have a shot at clemency, with this guy?
Is this "police officer testimony" regarding Stubbs, that Di Stefano cites, legitimate?
Is this "new case"... although interesting as hell (and current), a complete waste of time? LOLOL  What do you think?

Thanks to Katie and Kimchi for their help, in researching this thread!!

Although all of these new Di Stefano developments are current, somewhat exciting... and interesting... I really think, in the end, this is all gonna be a big waste of time.

For starters... if you research this character "Di Stefano"... he's probably more shady than Manson himself.

Secondly... who knows how legitimate this un-veiled "police testimony" regarding Stubbs is... which Di Stefano seems to have pulled out of his hat.
Has anyone ever seen this stuff before?

Thirdly...
Much of what Di Stefano is saying, has already been said before:
The mis-trial idea for the Nixon newspaper... Manson's right to defend himself... the "Stovitz Gag Order Violation".

I have no idea how this "international commission" will view this, or how much jurisdiction they have if any.

I also don't know a whole lot about Governor Brown.

I suppose those two entities, hold the keys to this answer.

Weigh-in folks!!!
Hopefully, I'll learn something here... and come-away with more perspective on all this.

I only have a minute or two and will comment more later, but I read that this Di Stefano contacted Charlie to represent him, Charlie didn't contact him.

This guy obviously likes to be associated with lower forms of life. Doesn't say a whole lot for him.

Later!!

They only gave it a file number and said they're looking into it.

I don't know about anyone else, but if you've ever filed a complaint about something to a governmental agency, don't stand still too long because you'll take root waiting on something to be done. HA HA.

This guy Di Stefano has been barred from practicing law in several countries. It appears he now lives in Spain.

His win/loss record is pathetic. He's filed several personal lawsuits and appeals that have been dropped because they were friviolous and without merit.

I think that if anything becomes of this (if so it will take years) then the taxpayers of California will once again have to "suck it up" and pay for it, which is sad. They've already spent enough money keeping Charlie alive as it is.

Manson (according to the press) just "broke his 20 year silence", a couple weeks ago.

Does it seem strange to anyone else, that these new appeals filed by Di Stefano, were never once mentioned by the "Vanity Fair" interviewer, or Manson himself????

After spending over 40+ years in prison... wouldn't you think a new review, trial, clemency, pardon... or anything else related... would be the FIRST thing you'd want to discuss??

It suggests to me, Manson doesn't have a lot of faith regarding this Di Stefano, or these appeals.

Heck... if I spent 40+ years in jail, and remained silent for 20 years... a 1% chance at release, would be enough for me to dominate the conversation/interview with the topic.

Is it just me???

Oh BTW, he spelled independent wrong. HA HA.

"For the first time in over 40 years an independant Court.."

Lynyrd I agree, if Charlie had retained this creep as his attorney, he certainly would have spoken out about it when he "broke 20 years of silence".

I've not heard anything about it. Has anyone else???

Is the Inter American Commission for Human Rights a real deal? Sounds like the National Bureaucratic Conglomeration For Modern Associations of Sanctioning Bodies. All ya gotta do is keep stringing together bombastic terminologys and claim you've been around 50 years.

LOL. Yeah sounds like NAMBLA. The North American Man Boy Love Association. HA HA.

Thanks Kimchi. I'm pretty much of the opinion that De Stefano just took all this upon himself to get his name in the paper or something.

I'm wondering what the legal consequences are of filing motions on behalf of someone who never retained your services????

The Stubbs thing is not new...at least as far as being a possible connected murder...the witness thing may be new, but that's about it.

I'm happy with anything that may make this case news again and may motivate a re-investigation whcih may result in some people actually talking this time.

No it's not new. To say "a hippy-looking guy" killed Stubbs and then pinning that on Tex is ridiculous. How many hippies were living in California in 1968? A lot more than were in the Family. It's really easy 43 years later to say "I'm sure Tex did that".

In every instance of murder that Tex committed, as far as I know, the victims were all good and dead before he left the scene. Why would this be different. It's just another ploy to make Manson look angelic.

>>>I'm happy with anything that may make this case news again and may motivate a re-investigation whcih may result in some people actually talking this time.>>>

Well you have a good point there, but I sincerely doubt that anyone will ever talk. I don't think the girls even know that much and the guys just aren't saying anything.

Thanks Pristash.
I've never seen the Stubbs death connected to Tex this specifically before though.
Who is this policeman Di Stefano cites?
Has anyone seen this policeman's testimony before?

You've got a good point there Pristash.
This could potentially breathe new life, into this old case, for the first time in decades.
If we're lucky, new evidence might be revealed.
If nothing else... it's current.

It's too bad they let the Stubbs case fall...or let it go...

Also, at the same time, there was the biker guy (Fillipo Tennereli that "supposedly committed suicide" in Inyo County...

It's a small County and I don't think they had the resources and still don't...

They belly-ached about the 2nd dig at Barker, a lot of that was volunteer work...and to me, they did a 1/2 assed job..

They are or were looking deeply (no pun intended) at Spahn...

Kimchi I realize that Tex was in the vicinity of that area at the time...doesn't mean he killed anyone. I don't think he killed Karl Stubbs.

Tex was in the Ukiah area too when those 2 murders occurred, picking up Pooh Bear. Doesn't mean he did it.

Tex & Bruce didn't kill Fillipo Tennereli nor Darwin Scott.

Bruce wasn't the Zodiac killer.

It makes people feel good to think they solved the crime.

But they didn't.

Being in the vicinity of a crime doesn't make you guilty.

Mr Poirot replies:

Digging in 107 deg temps will quickly make a person realize they were following a tall tale. Many people around the case told harrowing stories of multiple buried bodies but recanted these stories or denied ever making the statements. Hysteria caused the rumors.

Boy that guy's a sour puss. Maybe because he's balding. Looking in the mirror behind him, you can see the classic horsehoe pattern.

As George Castanza says: It's only a matter of time now.

It wasn't 107 degree temps when they dug at "Spahn", and yes, they dug at Spahn too...and are still investigating it...I have photos, I was there ...

And I don't like rumors either...
